Day Twelve

Today was a good day, we are still not feeling so hot BUT I am better off then my other half. The poor thing is miserable. I found myself not wanting to drink juice today, I just had a hard time stomaching it today. So I ate a sliced up cucumber and some celery. I think it was just too much with all my drainage. I do know that juicing is why I am not as bad off as my husband. I really wish he would start back drinking the juice, at least once a day. He just loves his food and the juice never made him feel full enough.

I don't think juicing is for everyone and what I told my husband is that if you're dreading the juice then don't stick with it. You will just end up breaking a few days later and go on a binge. You have to want it and appreciate the benefits of it. It really helps me to know that my husband is a lot sicker than I am, I know that sounds horrible, but it makes me want to stick to my plan. I can tell that I am healthier.

I have been thinking about doing a 60 day reboot. I will figure out my end date once I get to day 25. I do know that I want to do a week a month or 15 days every other month. I honestly love this juicing experience, its so refreshing and most of the juices are so sweet, I can say it is so much better than just having a candy bar. It doesn't satisfy you like this juice does. So good.

Today I had Juice by the Twos and Green Mean, they are still my favorites. I have yet to find a good carrot juice. I really need to switch it up a little though, I just really like both of them. I only have to make both juices and it lasts me the whole day, which is awesome.

Day Eleven

Am I really on day eleven already

WOW, I have passed the ten day mark, I'm loving this reboot! Today we were under the weather, the kids are fine. Its just the Mr. and I, we have a cold it feels like. I feel good overall though, other than this ick that I am fighting. I am not as bad off as he is though, I think I owe it to all the citrus I've been drinking. This morning I had some Juice By The Twos and this afternoon I had some Peach Pie Juice, yummm. It's such a treat. I did eat something today in hopes that it would make me feel better...wrong. I felt even worse. All this morning I just wanted to curl up in a ball and to go sleep. We watched a ton of movies today, which the kids loved, but I really wanted to take them to the park. That is strike two for horrible parents this week, first it was the failed zoo trip. We watched our first 3D movie, I think it's safe to say she loves 3D movies.

Ignore the dirty face, she was eating hummus and carrots.

Day Ten

Today was a very nice day out, we had all intentions of going to the zoo but the kids didn't sleep last night. The Big A woke up around three this morning and didn't go back to sleep until almost six, so we ended up scratching that idea and slept in. The whole family slept until almost 11am, that I think is a first! We ended up staying at the house and relaxing in our PJ's all day!

This morning/afternoon I had some Juice By The Twos, its so refreshing. I really enjoy waking up to it. This evening my amazing hubby went out and got some cucumbers so I made some Mean Green, the store that I like to get them for is still out of stock. They told me they are not sure when they will be back in stock, but they didn't have any in the truck coming in tonight. So he went and picked up some that were just as big but they were a dollar each! Ten dollars in cucumbers...I think I know the fist thing I am growing in our small garden that we hope to start up in a few weeks. I can't bring myself to spend close to $60 a month in just cucumbers. That isn't including the ones that the kids like to snack on, they love cucumbers now. I LOVE how my daughter sees me eating these things and she never wanted to touch them before, they weren't in the house regularly before. It is a really good refreshing snack for a summer day. I think we will only grow a few things this year, we live in a tiny apartment that doesn't get much sunlight throughout the day so we are only going to do two things.

Maybe I will even get crafty and mold some into cute shapes??

You can purchase a mold from Japan Trend Shop

Day Nine

This morning was therapy day for my daughter, I didn't go to sleep until the wee hours of the morning. I was up cleaning all night, I just had a boost of energy that I decided to use up! Well, the house is spotless and it feels really good. My husband helped a lot also.

Thursdays are normally very hectic for us, so I asked my husband to pick up a pre-made juice from the store last night. Thankfully I had that because I woke up so late that I basically threw on clothes and jetted out the door. So this morning I had Green Goodness, made by Bolthouse Farms.

It was good, it isn't recommended that you drink these everyday. They are heated and that reduces the nutritional value, from my understanding. But to use in a pinch, it is okay. Better to drink this than to go hungry or increase the chances of eating something. It was very good, extremely sweet and stocked full of fruits and vegetables. I think I will have one on hand all the time in case something goes wrong. The little one can't sleep through the juicing. His room is right above the kitchen. The poor things room always smells like food. He can tell whenever we make lunch, it's like his wake up call from nap.

So this morning I had the Green Goodness It was enough for breakfast and a snack and in the afternoon I had some carrot juice that wasn't very good. I am not really a fan of ginger and I can't find any good carrot juices without ginger. I will keep looking, or may possibly make my own?

Weigh In Wednesday

Well its my first official weigh in since starting the reboot, I was so excited to step on the scale this morning.

I am down SEVEN pounds.

I am so proud of myself for sticking to it, I just need to get the ball rolling on working out more and going out for a jog, then these pounds will seriously start to melt off me!

I will post my before and after pictures once I have finished the 30 day reboot. I am not looking for a number to aim towards but just to be healthier and not crave the foods that I was prior to starting the reboot. So far I have lost a pound each day, so if it continues like that, then I will be half way to my goal weight! Not getting my hopes up, but I know that I have to work at it also.

This week I am going to work out every other day. It is so hard to fit working out into my already swamped schedule. That is the excuse I have been saying for almost a year now, which is true, but that was before the reboot energy boot that I have gotten. I was so exhausted to even think about working out after the kids went to bed. I just wanted to curl up on the couch and enjoy a movie. Now I am cleaning the house, folding laundry, prepping the next day's meals. Yep, I love this reboot!

Day Eight

Today I stepped on the scale and I was so excited to see that I had lost weight. I feel amazing, my energy is back I am not craving foods that I normally would. I want juice. I can think clearer and I am over all happier.

This morning I had some Juice by the 2's, with some Mean Green this afternoon. I think those are my two favorite juices. The JBT2's produces enough for breakfast, a snack and some for little Miss to have some. The Mean Green produces enough for lunch, snack for both me and the kids and dinner. So that is five juices total each day, about 16oz for each making 80oz each day of fresh producing I am consuming. I still need to work on hydrating, I am lacking in that department. It is so hard since I am already drinking so much, the thought of drinking more just doesn't appeal to me.

I am still on the hunt for the cucumbers I had the first few days. They were huge and produced the same amount that three of the cucumbers I have now makes. They were 71 cents each, which seems to be a bargain compared to the price/size I am seeing now. The store is sold out of kale and cucumbers, I bought the last of it when I was there over a week ago now. My husband keeps running out for me in the afternoon to see if they stocked anything. So for now, so I don't make a large dent in our bank account, I am going to do carrot juice. Spending 86 cents for one cucumber or $1.69 a pound, its adding up! It's about $18.00 a week in cucumbers alone (compared to about $10 for the ones I purchased last week)! Every penny adds up.

Day Seven

I slept horrible last night, Miss A went in for an evaluation to see if she is eligible for the school's special education program. She wasn't accepted but with all the therapy appointments she has to go to I would never get to see her anyways, so I am okay with that. I just have to get a curriculum together for next year, she is only three so she doesn't have to start school. But she is so smart and wants to learn, plus she has a hard time handling large groups of people so I think the classroom setting will be harder for her. I was hoping she would be accepted so that she could get a jump start on how things will be and learn to process things differently before 4K. We can go back in for a reevaluation after her autism evaluation, but that isn't for another eight plus months.

Anyways, I slept horribly and woke up wishing I could just sleep all day. I drank some Mean Green and then made a new juice for lunch. I found this recipe on the community reboot page, there is a list of recipes for juicing and healthy eating. I have found that page so helpful the past month. While I was looking into everything, it was always my go to page.

The new recipe, Juice by the 2's, has grapefruit, oranges, apple, celery and spinach. It was delicious and very sweet. I normally try to drink my fruit based juices in the morning to give me a kick start. After the day I had I needed it this afternoon, it was a perfect blend of sweetness to get me in a better mood and give me some energy from the lack of sleep.

Day Six

Today was a really good day, I woke up with more energy than I have had in a while and I haven't had a headache in the past few days. I need to work on drinking more water, I drink some in the morning when I first get up and then a little throughout the day but nothing close to what I should be getting.

This was the first official day that I was supposed to be on just juice. I ended up drinking Mean Green all day, a total of about 80oz. This evening I took a bite of turkey dogs, I made them for the kids for the first time. I wanted to make sure they were good before I gave it to the kids, which they are. I think next time I am going to get some of the veggie dogs and see if the kids like those also. I also made muffins with little miss and she was upset that I didn't eat one so I had a small bite of one and then shared the rest with the little guy.

The Mr. decided he couldn't drink just juice, so he stopped. I really wish he would've stuck with it, but it wont stop me!

Happy Juicing Y'all!

Day Five

Sunday we went over to my parents house, it was warm outside so they grilled some hamburgers and hotdogs. I brought some Mean Green along with me, but my husband broke and ate some burgers that he later told me were really, really good. I shared some juice with  my mom and sister and they both seemed to like it.

That day I drank Mean Green all day, I think its my favorite. I have it each afternoon. I have been trying to find some good looking cucumbers like I had last week, but I can't seem to find any.I have more energy and I can actually think.

The little miss went driving while we were at Mum Mum and Papa's, she had a blat. It was so warm outside. I can't wait until it stays warm!

Day Four

So I missed day four, things got pretty crazy with the kids. I had a pretty good day yesterday, I actually took a bite of food and thought it was horrible. I don't know if I am craving the juice or if I am just hungry and know it is the best things for me. This morning I woke up easily, even with losing the hour.

Yesterday I had some Green Mean left over so I had that for breakfast and lunch. For dinner and a snack I made Peach Pie Juice. It was so good, I loved the touch of Cinnamon. We will definitely be making it again!

Well my little princess is asking for my attention.

Day Three

This morning I feel really good although I am still very tired. I went to bed last night with a headache. I don't normally have this many headaches, so now I am thinking its my body detoxifying itself? I didn't drink any coffee yesterday but I was very close to it, once about two o'clock hits I am tired and feel like I am about to pass out. We had some Mean Green left over from last night so I had that this morning and will make it again this afternoon. By far, this is our favorite juice so sweet and refreshing. I think we will try a new juice tomorrow.

Day Two 1/2- I Miss My Keurig

Things went downhill after this morning, I am so tired and the little guy decided that he wasn't going to nap today. Right now is when I would turn to coffee to get me through the rest of the evening. I miss my Keurig.Gotta keep my head in the game though, once I get past this it will get better. I keep telling myself that at least. One of the reasons I am doing this reboot is to get more energy. Going to drink some Mean Green and try to stop thinking about coffee.

Happy Juicing Y'all!

Day Two

Last night I made some Mean Green juice, got the recipe from No Sugar Sweet Life (Trust me, she has some really good juice recipes!) The whole family loved it...even the little guy! My husband said he could drink that everyday for 30 days, it was very sweet. Although it smells like grass but you get over the smell once you get a taste of it. It is so good! Planning on making it everyday for the next 30 days.

Last night I came down with a horrible headache, I assume from the lack of sleep the night before? I was so tired I passed out while we were watching the news, I am turning into my mother more and more each day!

This morning I made Carbeeple juice, also from No Sugar Sweet Life. It has carrots, beets and apples in it. Although I took out one beet and added two lemons to get a little extra flavor in it (the beets we have were larger also, more of a medium size). It made just over 36 oz. I think it is safe to say that it's a winner. Little miss sucked it down and asked for more! (So far we are three for three with her.) It has just a hint of dirt flavor in it, but if I added another lemon and/or and apple I am sure it would have been less dirty tasting.

I have also been keeping track of my weight, so far I am down two pounds. I will share pictures and my results at the end of the reboot with weigh-ins each Wednesday. Today I am feeling really good though. I woke up and seem to have more energy, even though the kids didn't sleep well last night. I feel tired but yet I also have energy. Planning on having the rest of the Carbeeple juice for snack and making the Mean Green again for lunch and if any is left over having some for a snack. I have no idea what to cook for dinner yet, off to Pinterest!

Happy Juicing, Y'all!

Day One

It's DAY ONE and I couldn't be more excited. For the next five days I will be eating and drinking just fruits and vegetables, then it is on to the second phase of the "reboot".

This morning I made a Good Morning Juice, from No Sugar Sweet Life.  Kelly has a ton of recipes over there, I can't wait to try them all! This one was made from 2 sweet potato, 6 carrots and 4 oranges.  It is smooth and sweet and made a little over 50oz. I really like it, next time I am going to take out half a sweet potaoto, although the ones we got this week are huge, so it might be just how large the ones we got were. My husband likes it, but he said it was better cold and we ran out of ice. He passed for this morning and will drink it when he comes home for lunch. I will hold him to it!

Week one "reboot" produce, all piled in.

I went shopping last night, people looked at me like I was a crazy vegetable lady...and I loved it! I spent $60 dollars and it will last us until next Wednesday. (That is two juices a day for five day and four juices for two days, one fruit based juice a day and then a green juice.)

10 very large sweet potoatoes
8 lbs carrots
30 stems of kale
10 cucumbers
2 red bell peppers
1stock celery
1 bag spinach leaves
10 oranges
10 lemons
28 apples
6 beets

I am so excited for this new lifestyle, I am even more excited that my family is doing it with me. I feel really good today, but the kids didn't sleep well last night and I am tired. The little one is still asleep though, so I am going to put a Leap Frog movie on for my big girl. Throw some laundry in the washer, unload the dishwasher, and watch her sip the juice I made...if she only knew what she was drinking right now...I added a splash of orange juice to it just to make it a little more like orange juice to her. She approved!

Happy Juicing!

Why am I Juicing?

Hello and Welcome. I assume you came across my blog because you're juicing or are interested in juicing. My name is Jordan, I am the mother of two wonderful children a three and one year old, and a wife to a wonderful supportive husband. For years I have wanted to juice, when we purchased a car about three years ago, the seller gave us a juicer with it (I was pregnant and the guys wife insisted we use it). It worked, I used it a few times but it was an older model and just a pain. You had to peel and cut everything. It was just too much for me to do with a newborn so it sat in storage taking up space. We moved three times and after the third move we decided to trash it. That was eight months ago...

About two months ago I broke out in a horrible painful rash. It was all over my face, down my arms and on my legs. It started to spread and got larger and larger. It stayed around for about a month and then started to go away. I wasn't eating well, I was stressed and just felt out of it all the time. Our family has been going through a lot for the past few months, my husband was diagnosed with PTSD and we were told that our daughter needed to be evaluated for Autism. I turned to eating to help me through it all. I had lost 15 pounds before hand and I ended up gaining it all back plus more in a little under six months. I just gave up. I watched Fat Sick and Nearly Dead, a documentary about an Australian guy's journey to become healthy. He was over weight and suffered from chronic urticaria, an autoimmune disease which came in a form of hives, and realized that I needed to change something. I was going to keep sinking if I didn't. My husband and I talked about it, he wanted to do it also, so we decided to do it together.

We started doing research on juicers that we thought would be best for us and our goal. We both wanted to lose weight but we wanted to become healthy. We figured we would do a cleanse for 7 to 30 days and then juice once or twice a day after that. We wanted to get the kids involved also, this is something we are doing as a family. We needed something that was simple to use, produced a larger quantity of juice faster and easy to clean. I couldn't spend an hour or more in the kitchen each morning prepping all the produce, juicing then cleaning. We needed something better than what we had before. We decided on the Breville Juice Fountain Plus.

We are starting the first stage/prep round of juicing, you don't want to go "cold turkey", on Wednesday and then start the fast on Monday. The prep will be two juices a day with a vegetable meal. We will be consuming just produce but slowly adjust to it. We will also just drink water, which means no coffee for me...this is going to be VERY difficult! I rely on coffee in order to get through the day.

I am going to be leaning as I write and I hope this helps someone through the whole process.

Happy Juicing Y'all!
